How To Make Crayon Lipstick!

This post is going to be showing you how to make awesome coloured lipsticks from wax crayons!

The good thing about this genius idea is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money, probably none at all because you have it lying around in your house!

Things you will need:

  • Coconut oil
  • Crayons (preferably crayola)
  • Containers to put the lipstick in
  • A teaspoon
  • A saucepan
  • A metal mixing bowl

Step one:

  • Remove the paper from the crayons.
  • Dispose of crayon parts that were not covered by paper, as these parts may be tainted with germs, bacteria or other crayon colors.

Step two:

  • Turn a single burner on your stove to high heat and fill a saucepan half full with water.

Step three:

  • Place the saucepan on the hot stove burner. Once the water in the saucepan is boiling, reduce the heat to low-medium and place the metal mixing bowl on top of the saucepan.

Step four:

  • Place a single crayon of your choice aka the “base shade”, into the double-boiler (the mixing bowl on top of the saucepan)

Step five:

  • Add more crayons in colors of your choice. You may wish to use half crayons, or even tiny pieces. Don’t be afraid to add colors that are out of the norm, such as blue or yellow.Colors like maroon can be used to darken the shade, while peaches and nudes will make the shade less intense.

Step six:

  • Using a fork, stir the crayons continuously as they melt.

Step seven:

  • Reduce the heat to a low setting. Stir in the or coconut oil until all ingredients are completely melted and mixed together. The more coconut oil, the easier it will be to apply your new lipstick.

Step Eight:

  • Remove the mixture from the heat. Use oven mitts or a dish towel to lift the mixing bowl from the saucepan.

Step Nine:

  • Pour the new lipstick directly from the mixing bowl into an empty lipstick tube or other container such as a contact lens case which will accommodate two shades. Use a knife or your fingers to shape the lipstick.

Step Ten:

  • Once the new lipstick has cooled slightly, allow it to solidify for 3-8 hours in the refrigerator. You can then try it on!

I hoped this post has helped you to create the awesome shade that the stores just don’t sell! Have fun! Be safe and be creative!!
